Anthonissa Moger, Nissa to my friends
Wow, where to begin? I can’t believe my journey with this work started fifteen years ago!
It was 2008, I was pregnant and it wasn’t planned.
Amazingly I saw the same midwife Jane at every appointment through my pregnancy. I liked her and she made me feel calm and safe.
I was planning a homebirth and the stars aligned. Jane was only on call for homebirths one weekend a month and that was when I went into labour!
With Jane by my side, I gave birth to my daughter in the living room of my little flat in Leyton (East London). I felt safe and held and had an incredibly quick, easy, and positive first homebirth experience.
This created a passion in me for supporting women and when my daughter turned one I started my training to be a midwife at St Thomas’ hospital where I worked until 2019. Time flies and I have been working as an NHS midwife for a decade and now work in my local homebirth team at Whipps Cross Hospital.
I have supported around 200 women to birth their babies, which I love! This includes homebirths, birth centre, labour ward and caesarean births. Incredibly I have also looked after more than 3000 women within my NHS practice over the last decade.
But that’s only the start!
In 2015 I started teaching hypnobirthing classes in Leyton and Hackney. I also love yoga, meditation, and complementary therapies. This led me to complete an aromatherapy for pregnancy and birth diploma in 2017, followed by yoga nidra training, kundalini yoga teacher training, and pregnancy yoga teacher training in 2018.
When publisher Dorling Kindersley asked me to write my first book ‘Holistic Hypnobirthing’ in 2019 I was delighted!
At the time I was pregnant with my son and combined all of my learning AND the rather more challenging lived experience of being pregnant with my second baby 11 years after my first. Pregnancy at 36 definitely felt different from 25! My book has more empathy, compassion and helps women give themselves permission to slow down, something I wouldn’t have understood as a younger woman.
Everything I included in my book has been lived and works, you can pick up a copy here.
Last year I completed the comprehensive Neuro Behavioural Physiological Assessment of the Newborn (NBPAN) course with Middlesex University. Which including examining 70 newborn babies!
I love what I do and I can’t wait to share all this and support you!!
Much love
